Each
spring on the first Saturday in May, James River Runners hosts at their
base camp at Hatton Ferry "The Great James River Chili Cook-Off"!
(directions to JRR) The
event is sponsored by James
River Runners, LLC, radio station 3WV,
and Budweiser (JW
Sieg Distributors) for the benefit of the Scottsville
Volunteer Rescue Squad. The Southern Albemarle event is the
largest fund raiser for the squad each year. This yearly event will
be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 and and will be the unbelievable
30th anniversary of this hugely popular fund raiser!! We are
pleased to announce that over the years the cook-off has now raised
over $230,000 for the squad! Previous funds from this charitable occasion
have been used to purchase state of the art river rescue equipment and
education for Swift Water Rescue training for the SVRS.
